Fall Home Tour 2015
When I got back from my extended stay in Houston (after my sinus surgery), I was so anxious to decorate for fall. All those magazines I’d been perusing and all the beautiful Instagram photos had me craving some beautiful autumn decor. It took me a few days to get my energy back after I got home. In fact, I was still feeling a little worn out when I spotted this post on Facebook about a local multi-family yard sale that ran Monday – Saturday.
I thought it was a joke or a dream. But, something told me (more like fifty of my fans on Facebook) that I should get off the couch and high tail it to this sale. My sweet friend Candace from Rusted Roots Blog was easily persuaded to meet me there, so I wouldn’t be the only fool who fell for a yard sale mid-week.
We both filled our cars with some great finds! I got home and quickly put together a little pumpkin and rustic relics display by our side door.
Pumpkins can wear jewelry, right?! I thought this white pumpkin really wanted a bangle on her stem.
Aged tools get me every time. These were $2 a piece. I hope that’s a good deal, or I’m a real sucker for rusty and old tools.
I scored some other goodies from the yard sale, but I’m saving them for a holiday display. If you wanted to see all the amazingness this “too good to be true” yard sale had to offer, you can watch my Periscope video.
Inside the house, I threw together a few vignettes. The shelves in the kitchen received some orange and aqua touches.
The hydrangeas were saved from our bushes before they died in the cold weather.
I’m really crushing on the aqua colors. Now that our new La-Z-Boy furniture has arrived, I’m finding lots of ways to decorate with this color.
The mantel got a quick update with more hydrangea flowers and white gourds on top of brass candlesticks.
If you’ve been following my decorating adventures for a while, you’ll know that I had to push myself out of my comfort zone last year when I created my first tablescape. I officially introduce you to my second attempt at a tablescape:
I like keeping it simple for now.
I finally updated our foyer vignette from the spring display. You could say I gave that old decor “the boot.” LOL, I love a corny joke, click here to see what I’m talking about.
Thanks for letting me share all the fall decorating I did. Pretty Handsome Guy isn’t too forthcoming with gushing comments about my decorating. He probably won’t notice half of what I did until December. Does your spouse notice when you decorate?

Hi!! Love your great finds!! What is the wood tray (?) under the silver pedestal bowl with the ivy + white pumpkin? Is that one of your original creations, or something I could also find somewhere? Thanks!!
Samantha, the bad news is you can’t buy it anywhere. The good news is you too can make one! https://prettyhandygirl.com/rustic-pallet-serving-tray/
