Savory Spice-Rubbed Salmon
Summertime is here and I’ve been in the mood for our favorite salmon recipe! Spice-Rubbed Salmon is the perfect meal for a hot summer evening. The spices cook to a sweet and spicy crust over deliciously flaky and healthy salmon.
Normally, I’d throw the fish on the grill, but it seems like every night this week our grilling weather has been dampened by a big fat booming thunderstorm. After letting the fish marinade for several hours, I wasn’t about to scrap our dinner plans. Instead I threw the fish in the oven. I know…I know, but cooking fish stinks up the whole house. As a brand ambassador for Filtrete, I want to introduce you to the Filtrete Odor Reduction Filter with activated carbon:
Feel free to cook fish indoors all month long! This baby helps remove the fish odors so the bad smell doesn’t keep circulating through your home .. It also works remarkably well on reducing the smell of wet dog…{ahem} certain Handy Dog who likes to get into the creek!
But enough about odors, get ready to rock your tastebuds with this recipe. It’s seriously the best Spice-Rubbed Salmon I’ve ever had!
Ingredients:
- 2 – 6-8 oz salmon filet (wild caught is healthier than farm raised)
- 2 tsp. mustard seeds (not ground)
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- 1 Tbsp. ground coriander
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt & pepper
Instructions:
1. Mix all the spices in a bowl.
2. Place salmon on a plate and pat spices over the fish.
3. Flip the fish over and pat spices on the skin side. (You can wrap the fish in cellophane and let it marinade for several hours for increased flavor, or just proceed to cooking.)
3. Cook the salmon on the grill (skin side down) for 10 minutes or until it flakes with a fork. Alternatively, you can bake it in the oven at 400˚F for 20 minutes or until salmon flakes with a fork.
Yields 2 servings

We eat so much salmon so I’m happy to have another way to make it now. Send some of that rain to the desert!
Sound really good but I think 20 min. In the oven would dry out the salmon. I think I’ll try 10 minutes at that temperature. Sounds good with the corn salsa too
