Endurance BioBarrier Review

Endurance BioBarrier Review
I’m going to warn you now, this is not a pretty post. But, this product review of Endurance Cleaner Prep and Endurance BioBarrier will most likely be one of your favorite posts if you deal with continual mold & mildew growth (especially in a small coffin-like shower from the 1970’s.)

You may remember how much I love our master bathroom shower:
That ugly harvest gold tile shower is the ugliest spot in our home. And, its attractive color is not helped by the mold growth that returns like clockwork every three weeks. I have tried everything to control its regrowth. What I’ve tried is using bleach, and leaving the shower door open all day. I even replaced the caulk in this shower. But, every three weeks that mold peeks out from the cracks and crevices.
This bathroom is slated to be demolished at some point, but until then it needs constant cleaning. That is until a few months ago when I tried Endurance BioBarrier Mold Prevention Spray (non-toxic and low-odor.)
Endurance sent me a the Cleaner Prep and Biobarrier to try out. You may remember that I tried it after cleaning our dirty and moldy storm windows.
I didn’t want to blog about the products until I had tried them for more than a few months. I’m happy to report that for four months, I didn’t need to clean our shower! Normally after three weeks the mold and mildew would have been happily growing in the corners of my shower.

On February 5th, 2015 I set about cleaning the shower with high hopes but big doubts.
As directed, I sprayed the Endurance BioBarrier Cleaner Prep in the shower. I let it sit for 15 minutes (1-5 minutes for normal cleaning. 15 minutes for tougher jobs.)

To clean off the mildew and mold, I used a scrub brush. Then rinsed all the surfaces with water.

After the shower is completely cleaned with the Cleaner Prep, spray the Endurance BioBarrier Anti-Mold protection spray to create a thin film on all surfaces.

Wipe up any puddled spray after a few minutes.

The shower was clean and devoid of any mold or mildew. Nothing miraculous yet. I can achieve the same results with bleach cleaner.
But, here’s where the similarities end. After four months (not three weeks) was the first time I began to see some mildew and mold regrowth.
I took the following photos on June 4th, almost four months to the day since cleaning the shower. You can see all the soap scum that had accumulated, but only a small amount of mildew had begun to form.

I was told by my contact at Endurance that typically the spray works 6 months or longer. But, given the small confined shower and no ventilation in that room, the mildew grew back earlier than typical results. Regardless, I’m thrilled with the results.
You can use the Endurance BioBarrier Cleaner Prep product to clean up mold. Then use the Endurance Mold Prevention Spray for long lasting protection against mold, mildew, germs and musty odors. You can expect up to 6 months in high-traffic areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and locker rooms. Up to 2 years on exposed indoor or outdoor surfaces such as ceilings, walls, stucco, siding, roofing, gutters, concrete, bricks and more. And up to 25 years on enclosed surfaces such as attics, crawl spaces and stud cavities.

no ventilation, check
mold and mildew, check
sore knees from bi-weekly bleach scrub, check
only thing missing is the gold tile…if fortune is on my side, look forward to testing it it out on the gray tiles
in our master shower
Mold in my shower comes back possibly even faster than three weeks (although I don’t often get in there with bleach, usually just scrubbing and whatever I have on hand). If this really works, it would save me so much trouble!
I really need this in our RV!
I REALLY NEED this in our basement bathroom! My sons use this bathroom and obviously don’t clean it as often as they should, but even if they did we would still have a mold/mildew problem. There is no window or fan in the room and it is almost always warm in there. It looks and smells terrible within a week of cleaning. I would love to give this a try!! Thanks so much!
Our master bath shower is much like yours except I have trouble getting it all off even with a full on bleach session. Would love to try this! Thanks for the giveaway.
Who wouldn’t want to give this a try – anything to make things bright and shiny and less work
I would love to give this a try in our master bath – I can’t stop the mold from coming back (just like yours its tiny and non-ventilated). At some point we hope to replace ours as well, but with a baby on the way we need a simpler solution for now (and the idea of not having to scrub the shower for my whole last trimester sounds fantastic!). Thanks for the chance!
My master bath shower stall. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Yours looks pristine compared to what mine would look like after three weeks of no cleaning. It’s disgusting. So, this product intrigues me!!
Our master bathroom has little ventilation, so every week I’m standing on my sons little stool in my shower stall scrubbing my wall and ceiling, I would love to forgo having to clean the mold off my walls every week. This product would be awesome to try!!
With our “hard” well water, bleach really doesn’t help. I (honestly) use Works toilet bowl cleaner. It’s the only thing I’ve found that removes the hard water, soap scum, and mold. I hate using it because we have a septic field and I know it is not good, but what’s a girl to do!! I am certainly going to look into this product. Thank you for the information.
my shower was installed without backerboard. of course, mildew is occurring, to put it mildly. i’ve tried product after product over the years. nothing really works except bleach. i’m allergic to both bleach and mildew. i’m sure you see the problem. until we can afford to rip it out and replace it… WE NEED BIG HELP!
I would say I’d use it in the bathroom for sure – also around the kitchen sink. Look wonderful! May the force be with me 🙂
If I were picked to try Edurance Bio Barrier Mold and Mildew Protection, I would try it in several areas that have been unrelenting to mold and mildew problems – for one, my old “Michigan” Basement. A “Michigan” basement is a partially “dug-out” basement. Not finished off, usually with dirt walls & floor sometimes partially “finished” with cement or cinder blocks and a cement floor. Usually very damp, & has a very unique odor of damp & dirt and sometimes a musty mildewey smell depending upon how damp it gets. This would be a try test of Edurance Bio Barrier Mold/Mildew Protection. I would also try it around the spindles of my covered porch where mildew grows and on the siding of my house and out buildings. I’ll put your protect to the test!!
This looks incredible! My master bath sounds similar and I’d love to try it out!
I have a shower with a similar problem. I’d love to have a longer lasting solution to the mold problem. Teenage daughter takes long, steamy showers; can you say science experiment?
I would love to try these products. I also have a nasty basement bathroom with no ventilation . I have tried so many different things all to no avail. Maybe there is hope with these products. Thank you
I have a shower in our master bath that is in desperate need of an effective mold & mildew cleaner. Note I said “effective”. The seal where the glass frame meets the tile looks like something out of a horror movie. I have a closet full of product that haven’t helped, perhaps Endurance will.
I have the same problem in our full bathroom. It has 60 year old tile and bad ventilation and molds up in about a month. This stuff sounds perfect!
I would use it in our showers (I have tiled ceilings in my showers too!) and on the windows in my kitchen, breakfast nook, dining room, family room and front room. The windows in our house are big but divided up into 9 smaller rectangular windows each about 1.5 x 2 feet. They don’t open and while they are double paned they are very old and sweat especially when I cook. With 9 separate window sills x 6 total window areas, that’s a lot of moldy window goo, 54 to be exact. One of these day they will get replaced, but until then I am up to eyebrows in wet Washington moldy window gunk.
This product would sure help me out with my phone-booth size bathroom! I have very little ventilation and have tried numerous products but the mold keeps coming back.
I’d definitely use this in our master bathroom shower as well.
I would love to win and try this product. So in case I don’t win, can you tell us where we can buy this? I get mold on the siding of the house, along with my shower.

Our shower gets moldy as soon as we’re done cleaning it. This would be a godsend!
This is exactly what we need for the mold problem we’re having! We’ve tried everything with no success! My mom would be so thrilled!
I would love to know what the smell was while you were using it. Was it the kind of smell you had to wear a mask for? Very impressive review.
I’d use this in my shower! I seems to get an orange mold in the corners. Yuck
I have twin 17yo sons who share a shower and are responsible for keeping it clean. They are not good at it. Periodically, I have to go in there and give it a good scrub down. I would love to try these products to see how they stand up against my Destructive Duo!
Desperately need to try this in the small standup shower in the master bath. It can’t seem to stay clean!
In my tiny closed off, tiled shower. I can’t get it to stay cleaned for a week!
Wow. I will have to try this in my bathroom. It is extremely small. Even with keeping the door open all the time and letting the fan run for hours at a time it is disgusting. Even bleach hasn’t been able to rid the bathroom of the mildew.
I would use it in my own old bathroom.. i have the same issue with quick molding no matter what I do. This would be interesting to try out and help make my life a tad less messy!
I have been fighting this same problem in all three of the showers in our house. Small white tile +white grout = a cleaning nightmare! We are also going to redo our bathrooms in the near future, but my definition of near and my husband’s are two different matters. Until then I would love to use a product that would make life easier. Thanks so much for the opportunity to try this product.
Thanks for this post. I heard about this from Lou Manfredini (HouseSmarts) on WGN TV recently, but could not recall the name of the product. I definitely need this for my bathroom tub caulk. This would make my like so much easier.
I would use it in my shower
I had a dishwasher leak behind and under the cabinets and when I finally noticed it and had the dishwasher replaced, I found mold everywhere back there. I cleaned as best I could with bleach cleaners but every few weeks that mold smell wafts out when I open one of the cabinets and I have to get back under there again. I would love to try Endurance!
Definitely in my master bath! But mostly I’d like to try it on a couple of my windows that seem to perpetually grow black spots nono after how often I scrub or bleach them.
I need this! We constantly battle black mold in the shower and in the bathroom cabinets and drawers. The rains have been heavy this year and now I have a spot of it on our bedroom ceiling. I hate the thought of sleeping in that environment. My efforts to scrub, bleach, spray have been useless. Within a day the stuff is growing back. The ceiling is the toughest to fight because I have to get up on a ladder. Hate, hate, hate black mold!!!
Use the small shower/bathroom in the basement of our 1957 Cape Cod type house which has become a bone of contention between my wife and myself. She thinks I should clean it more often-I clean it when I see mold starting- and that her shower upstairs is cleaner and blah, blah, blah. You get the idea. Well, I saw your story about what will be my miracle cleaner ace in the hole and I knew I have to have it. Imagine her surprise when I showcase my mold-free, cleaner then clean, man cave shower. She will be so happy I probably will offer to do her shower upstairs too. OK, she’ll order me to do it anyway but I’d do it happily. Would love to be considered to receive one of the gift sets of the Endurance products. Thanks.
We have the same issue with having a 1973 house. Why didn’t they add ventilation? My shower is 7 ft x 5 ft way too big for us and it is a pain to clean. I have tried everything including making my own toxic waste dump and still the mildew comes in. I clean every week as well. Would love to try a product that could get me out of that cleaning rut.
I’d use the product in the bathroom and kitchen of my cottage in Long Island. We can NEVER get the mold and mildew out completely, and as you said, it’s a never-ending job cause it keeps coming back faster than the soap scum can accumulate.
I thought it was just me when all the other mold and mildew cleaning ideas did not work on my bathroom shower. The 7yr mold resistance caulk has stained even before a year was up. I would love to see if this will work to prevent this stains. Certain beats having to recaulk every year, and hopefully not ever having to regrout again.
I have the same problem in my master bath shower but my room is ventilated and the glass shower is a little larger than the type in yours. My shower mildews under the door and around the edges. Nothing short of removing all the caulk once a year and replacing it has gotten rid of the mold and mildew. Bleach does nothing. I would love to try Endurance to see if I could prevent having to replace the caulking every year!!
I too have a tiny 70s bathroom in my newly purchased house and low and behold, I didn’t even think to look when we were at the showing, but the master bath doesn’t have a freaking fan!! Now that we’ve been here a while, I definitely notice a mildew smell and want to take care of it ASAP! If use this all over the bathroom!!
All these tiled shower stalls are destined for mildew, I would certainly tackle mine and show it who is boss, imagine “four months” relief, that would be heaven
Great post! Looks like a product I would love to try in a similar stall shower in our home. And the smell we get from using CLR or othe products. You can’t be in the room. Really hope to try this product some day. Again, thanks for posting your results. Good luck to all.
This definitely sounds like what we need to combat mold and soap scum in our shower! We have an equally (albeit, different decade) ugly shower that collects mold on every surface and in every nook and we are constantly battling to keep it clean. Now that I am expecting twins, it would be great not to have to get in there with smelly cleaners quite so often to keep the shower clean. What a brilliant product!!
I’d definitely use it in both bathrooms… it’s such a struggle to get two seventeen year olds to keep their bathroom clean!! May help if it stays nice for up to four months!
I just found your blog on the weekend and I love it!! After reading your review of this product, I am going out to buy find it and buy it this morning. I have 2 bathrooms, sliding glass doors, and a multitude of window sills to banish mold from. Once that is done, I may go into the crawl space under the stairs too… if I am still able to move that is!
This stuff sounds great! It would get much use in our basement – both the bath and the space where the water filter lives!
My master bathroom has a large shower dated to the ’50s that we haven’t had a chance to update yet. The mold is driving me crazy! This would be a great way to keep it clean!
Unfortunately I have the same exact problem in my bathroom. After a couple of weeks, I see the mold returning. No matter what we do, it doesn’t seem to get rid of it.
We had to replace the AC unit in our attic and there was water damage inside the closet below it that resulted in mold growing on that ceiling. We tried several commercial products including bleach and the mold stain returns after a few weeks. I’d love to give this product a try!
Hello! I’d love to try this stuff. I’m thinking of trying it even if I don’t win; so thank you for scouting out such awesome products! I’m in Texas; there’s SO. MUCH. MOLD! I have lived in 3 different rentals since I’ve been here. It’s so dry here I’m shocked how moldy things get! I grew up in Rhode Island by the sea, and never experienced the mold I do here! Anyway, thanks again for the chance!
Would love to try this out in the master shower 🙂 Thanks for the chance!
I have wasted so much money on cleaners for mold in my bathroom. The exhaust fan doesn’t work and I don’t have the funds to replace/get it fixed. I leave the bathroom door open but that doesn’t help very much. I’m going to google Endurance and check into buying it. Thanks for all you do for us out here!!
I have allergies to mold and mildew really bad so I am using bleach all the time to kill the yucky in the bathroom. I would love having to do it less often and not smelling bleach all the time.
Three months ago, had to hire a professional mold remover company for mold in hall bathroom – after $4,000. I still have mold! Please pick me or where I can buy this stuff!
Thanks!
Hello Barbara! I’m sorry to hear that you had to spend $4,000 for professional remediation and that the mold is already back. Have you contacted the company that did the job? They may guarantee their work and redo it free of charge.
Endurance BioBarrier is currently available online at Homedepot.com and Amazon.com. To save on shipping you may request that EBB be sent to your local Home Depot store!
Feel free to reach out to us directly through our website with any questions.
Best regards,
Spencer C.
We’d also like to add that before hiring a team of mold remediation professionals, find out if they follow IICRC S520 mold remediation standards. These standards are important to ensure the quality of their work and proper mold removal; however, that’s just half the job! If moisture is reintroduced to the affected area even after removal, mold will likely regrow as was the case for Barbara. Once the professionals have properly remediated the mold, ask them to apply Endurance BioBarrier so you know the mold won’t be able to return.
Best,
Spencer C.
this would definitely be a big help in keeping the mold at bay in my master bath. my husband gets home late at nite and always showers before bed leaving all that moisture to develop into mold.
Please, please, please pick me as one of the winners! We have a horrible 1970s shower that has the exact same mildew problem. I even replaced the old caulking with a fancy “mildew resistant” brand and it didn’t help one bit. The only thing I have found that actually works is Kaboom with Bleach Mold & Mildew Stain Remover, but the smell is rough. I would love to give Endurance BioBarrier a try!
I would definitely use it in my disgusting shower which is always a mold problem area. I live in Texas and the humidity here just feeds the mold!
I have just discovered you and your blog and signed up for emails…loving all the great info! Okay, I want into the giveaway–looks like a great product (thanks for the detailed description and photos!). I will use in my bathroom shower–living in the Pacific Northwest, there’s always moisture, and always that black mold creeping through… I am now a single woman after 23 years and am working on learning how to do EVERYTHING myself, which is exciting and fun, actually–so I’ll be referring to your blog a lot, I predict. Thanks again for all the great info!!
Our 115 yr old house has the original lathe and plaster which I’d like to save. The only bathroom in the house has had a moldy ceiling for all the 32 years we’ve been here. It always grows back, some years ago I just gave up, we live with the black patches.
My husband retires in a few months and we were dreading tearing out the ceiling, I don’t want to replace it with drywall…..I love the old stuff! If this works half as good for us as it did for you, I’d be thrilled!
And if I don’t win, I’m buying it anyhow.
I would use it in our basement. Mold is a trigger for people with Lyme disease (which I have) and with this crazy rainy weather we’ve had, I don’t want to take any chances.
I have a tiny shower in the basement (it’s my husband’s, I hate it!), no ventilation and it is GROSS!!! Mold just loves this shower and I would love to banish it for months!!!
I would love to give this a try on one of the walls in my basement.
I would use it on my refrigerator seals and at my mom’s house in her basement shower. It is just plain gross!
I. MUST. HAVE. THIS. We just bought a new house, built in the 70’s, and it too has a coffin shower! I would love to take a sledgehammer to it the first day we move in, but I’m pretty certain its going to be awhile! I don’t want to shower in someone else’s mold and germs!!! Pick me, pick me 🙂
We just finished remodeling our master bathroom and I’m afraid to use the shower because I don’t want to start the endless process of keeping the tile and shower door sparkling. These products would be perfect! Thanks, Brittany!
My master bath shower too. It’s 60 years old, but the re-tiled shower done by the previous owners is much more gross than yours. I’ve written if off, but maybe this could help!
my master bath and my guest bath! Would be nice not to have to worry about guests and their first impression of the hall bath!
Our master bathroom shower is also in need of a big re-do. That’s exactly where I would use this! I’m so happy to learn about this product. I’ve not heard of it before! I need this!
I, too, have a super grody master shower. Could totally use this in there!
Yes please! My master bath shower!!!i have found that leaving the light in in the shower until it dries does help too!
I live in Florida!!! So you can imagine my battle with mold and mildew….not only the shower, but around my metal windows where moisture builds up, then it turns to mold. I, too, have tired bleach, simple green, etc. even vinegar. Nothing affects it…so maybe this product is what I need!
I have tried just about every kind of cleaner to get rid of the mold in my shower. I would LOVE to try this!
I have that same shower from the 70’s !!! It always needs all the help I can give it and this looks like the perfect solution. Thanks
OMG! OMG! You’re speaking my language. M. O. L. D. I have ZERO ventilation in my full bath. The one EVERYONE uses. Mold everywhere. I was just getting ready to cut out the caulking and re-caulk. I’d love to try this stuff! Please!
I would use it on the bathtub!
We have an ancient bathtub and shower. We need this so much!
Our walk-in shower is in need of this stuff!
My master bathroom shower needs serious help. It grosses me out to clean it- anything that can prevent frequent cleaning deserves a shot for me!
Love to try this in my shower. It does not seem to like any cleaners I use.
I’d use it between the french doors on my fridge!
I’d definitely use it in the shower. It seems it never dries completely.
I have the same problem in my downstairs bathroom. The caulk is stained and needs to be replaced. Tired of all the chemicals and scrubbing!
OH, I have tried EVERYTHING!! I can clean it with just about anything but within a week or 2, IT’S BACK!! I have a large shower with ventilation, but it doesn’t help. I also live in the woods and our exterior constantly needs to be pressure washed. Please let me try it!! Btw, I am new your blog and LOVE it!
We have a 1970’s shower that needs this product desperately for the same reasons your does-hope I win and thank you for the giveaway!!! Sue
wow! That is impressive. Thanks for the info and review on this.
I’d use it on our master bath that always grows mildew!
I will use it in my husband’s constantly moldy shower.
definitely in our bathrooms… 2 boys = icky bathrooms, something like this would be a miracle product for us! because 2 boys also = not enough cleaning… sigh (that’s a whole other struggle!)
I would use it in my upstairs bathroom and on my siding by my side entry. I feel your pain when you reference the coffin shower!
I’d love to use this in my basement. It’s dingy and scary and I’m thinkin’ this would make some of the mold in there disappear.
Help!! My bathroom mold problem is killing me!
Most definitely use it in my master bathroom. No matter what we do, we always have difficulty with a little bit of mold on the tiles.
Our master shower has no ventilation either! The constant mold cleaning is such a pain so I’d love to try this product!!
We moved into a rental while on the search for our forever home. The basement is damp and musty and moldy. Very scary. Would love to try a product that a regular person has tested.
I think this was made for me, too. I have the same problem on the caulk in my downstairs shower. I’d love to try it out!
