Cabinet Hardware {The Jewelry of the Kitchen}
Cabinet hardware is akin to the finishing touches on an outfit. It is the jewelry that really catches the eye in a kitchen. I’m not a big jewelry person. I only wear my wedding rings on a daily basis. And I have necklaces and bracelets for the days that I actually change out of my work clothes. But, I’ve never been the type of gal to go ga ga over a diamond.
However, I found myself getting starry-eyed while trying to choose our kitchen hardware. I felt like a kid in a candy store because there were so many choices (and yet so little time.) This week I learned that our cabinets will be arriving at the end of the month. And my designer (who really needs to be my personal assistant) gently asked me, “Have you ordered your cabinet hardware yet?” Gulp…umm no. What I wanted to say was, “Seriously? This is the least of my worries! I need to get the walls finished and a floor in our kitchen before I can even think about bling!” That’s when it dawned on me, a Handy Gal can’t do everything! Especially when it comes to jewelry (it’s just not my strong suit.)
With that in mind, I’m asking for your help. Yes, that means you Ms. “I’m Sitting Here at My Computer Drinking My Coffee While I Watch Pretty Handy Girl’s Kitchen Renovation Updates”! And you may be thinking, heck no, I don’t have time to help her. Here’s the deal, I’m going to show you some of my choices from D. Lawless and you help me choose by leaving me a comment below. Also, did you know that D. Lawless sells a lot more than cabinet hardware?
Knobs and pulls are the least of their offerings! Corbels, hinges, switch plates, drawer slides, hooks, pie safe punched tin, casters, shelf brackets, space savers and much more!
To help (or further muddy) the decision making process, I’ve put together this mood board with some of the other materials and fixtures that I’m using in the kitchen.
Uttermost Hanging Pendant Light, Cassidy Oil Rubbed Bronze Touch2O Faucet, Carrera Venato Honed Marble Subway Tiles, White Diamond Recycled Glass Countertop, and Globus Cork Tile Floors.
Here are the hardware combos I picked out:
Choice A:
Antique Copper Pull with Screw Heads and French Lace Venetian Bronze Knob
Bronze with Copper Highlights Cup Pull and Bronze with Copper Highlights Knob
Choice C:
Antique Pewter Cup Pull and Clear Octagon Cut Glass Knob
Choice D:
Antique Copper Cup Pull and Ridge Knob Antique Copper
Choice E:
A combo of the above: Bronze with Copper Highlights Cup Pull and Clear Octagon Cut Glass Knob
Not to sway your decision, but will you look at that glass knob!
I think I just fell in love with a diamond. It would make a beautiful earring, don’t you think?
And that bronze cup pull, it just sings “tug me.” Gahhhhhh! Is it okay to mix styles? I seriously need your help on this decision.
Can I help it if I look at hardware and immediately think jewelry? Didn’t you see a necklace pendant, too?
Focus! Here is the task at hand. Help me choose hardware by leaving me a comment below. Feel free to give me some other suggestions.
Thanks in advance for your help with this decision. I look forward to reading your comments!
Disclosure: I am working with D.Lawless Hardware in exchange for free products. This is a company I chose to work with because I value their products and business practices. I was not compensated for this post, nor was I told what to write. All ideas and opinions are my own.Â
To be honest I fell in love with A and didn’t want to look any further, but then I did and saw the glass knob! Still like A the bests but the glass would be beautiful with those countertops!
After my post about my choice, I noticed D. Lawless is located near where I live! Awesome!
E!
Definitely C, it has the screw heads like A right? I love those pulls with the screw heads. Those glass knobs are lovely.
Dang I can’t decide between C & E!
I like the pull from E, but I like knob B.
I vote for C. Second choice would be E.
I vote for Antique Copper Cup Pull and Ridge Knob Antique Copper!
I like choice D with the glass knob to be used for doors instead of cabinets. Second choice would be B.
If you love, love C, then do it. But honestly, I’d go with D.
I think from a selling standpoint, D looks classier, But if you love the look of C, then do that.
I love C or E! I believe it’s because it contrasts more than the others while adding sparkle at the same time. 🙂
I really like choice B the best — my worry with the glass knob is that it may look … sorry, but plastic…and it just seems old fashion to me. I think choice B goes well with your faucet and lighting fixture.
I love C & E, all because of the glass knobs. GORGEOUS!!!
I would pick whichever handles match the faucet best. I can’t wait to see your completed kitchen!
LOVE the glass knobs!!! Choice C or E
My vote is for A… but I like the drawer pull from D better than the one from A…
