The Painted Cottage – A Tour of My Favorite Store at the Beach
We just got back from a very relaxing week at the beach. The weather was perfect and our boys really enjoyed playing in the surf. I think we brought back a bit too much of the beach with us (sandy sheets, hair and toes). But, at least we had fun!
My mom and I spent an afternoon shopping at the outlets in Myrtle Beach, but not before stopping at my favorite location in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
A place where I can look at lots of this:
Admire plenty of this:
And go ga ga for this:
All these and more can be found at The Painted Cottage.
This eclectic shop is an adorable boutique with sherbert colored walls and oodles of antiques, art and shabby chic finds. I could spend hours browsing this store and still not see everything.
Here is just a sampling of what is inside:
How about the same mirror with black oyster shells?
and accented with ribbon, coral and shells.
the pillow by my boys or crushed during wrestling matches.
But, I can dream about it, right?!)
as my daisy chair and bench in my guest room (only in a different colorway.)
Like this blue rattan chair.
Am I part magpie? Why am I so fixated on shiny shinies?
Beautiful sea foam green.
I can’t wait for one of you crafty readers to write up a tutorial on this.
So, if you make your way down to the southernmost beaches of North Carolina’s unique barrier islands, (or even if you are in Myrtle Beach). Take the time to stop by and visit The Painted Cottage at 6692 Beach Drive, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. (Phone ahead for hours and directions: 910-579-5995). Be sure to tell them that I sent you. (I am not paid by the Painted Cottage, I only hope they remember me next year when I go back.)
Best of all, if you haven’t had your fill of eye candy from this post, visit the shop’s website: thepaintedcottageonline.com or blog: thepaintedcottageonline.blogspot.com
love this store…. wishing it was still open and hoping they’ll be opening again soon 🙂
Call it fate. Just returned from a trip to Myrtle visiting friends and was so disappointed that I did not have enough time to stop by OIB (shhh, we think this is our secret spot!) and visit the Painted Cottage. Returned home to complete some way overdue organizing and came across my receipt for purchases from the Painted Cottage last year which prompted my Google search and landing at your sight. Love your sight, your ingenuity and count the Painted Cottage as one of my favorite places! Bookmarking your sight now as a procrastinator can always dream of completing projects such as yours or at least hope for another vacation in OIB!
Thanks so much for coming by The Painted Cottage… and thanks even more for loving it!!! As I am sure you can tell it is a shop filled with all that I love!!! Shabby furniture, lots of shells and "shiny things" and chairs and chairs and chairs. You can tell I am obsessed with unique lamps—one statement lamp really does pull a whole room together. I am so glad that you and your family had a wonderful week in Ocean Isle –the place I am lucky enough to call home! Again thanks so much for all of your kind words—Can't wait to see you again next summer…or before…
Part magpie lol 🙂 These pictures are gorgeous! I love shiny things too 🙂
The sea foam dresser is awesome! Love that color. These pictures have given me some ideas and inspiration for some things I may try.
I am obsessed with the window and wine corks! Fantastic eye candy! Thanks for sharing!
I was just up that way this week. I was thrifting with a friend at Calabash, Little River, Sunset Beach, but did not get to Ocean Isle. I will have to remember that for the next trip. You asked about the Southern Sign that I had posted on my blog. It came from the gift shop at the restaurant called NoFo, which is at Five Points in Raleigh. It is in an old Piggly Wiggly grocery store and is a wonderful restaurant. The gift shop was nice too. The man said that these signs sell out real fast, but I'm sure they would hold one for you if you wanted one. Thanks for visiting. Love & blessings from NC!
Thanks for you post, planning a visit in a couple of weeks now! I live in Raleigh so I'm only three hours away! Yay!!! How were their prices on the bigger items like painted furniture? I love all the Aqua!
Oh what a fun place. It looks amazing and tons of beautiful things. Glad you had a great week. Hugs, Marty
What a great tour. I haven't been to Myrtle Beach in a few years. My husband loves it as you probaly know it has a mess of greens. When he would golf I would go to the beach or shop. I love all the items you photographed – so inspiring – wish I could be there.
My best- Diane
That was fun. I love the lamps. Especially the one with the leaves.
That store looks wonderful! If I'm ever on the East Coast I may just have to stop! 🙂 Looks like you had a fun time!!
