Krud Kutter Exterior Clean Up without a Pressure Washer or Ladder
Is your home ready for Halloween? I don’t mean decorating. I mean is it so grimy and dirty that you don’t need to decorate to scare off the trick or treaters?
Umm, yup, that was my house. But, a few weeks ago I was introduced to my new CBFF (Cleaning Best Friend Forever.)
Krud Kutter Exterior Clean Up
Seriously, you can ask my sister and stepmom! I was toting around a bottle of Krud Kutter this past weekend while working on renovating a VERY dated beach condo. What? You didn’t know I was doing that?!
Well, you NEED to follow me on Instagram to get the latest deets of my DIY life!
Anyway, back to Krud Kutter. The folks at Krud Kutter couldn’t believe I’d never used their products before. So, they offered to send me some to try. But, before I agreed, I checked with a few DIY friends like Holly. And, they all agreed, “Oh yeah, that stuff ROCKS!” Holly says she uses it to clean grimy furniture before painting it. I figured if she likes it, I might.
Within a few days, a box containing some Krud Kutter Original and Krud Kutter House Wash showed up on my VERY dirty doorstep. I’m sure my UPS driver thinks our stoop is a disgrace. I had contemplated buying a pressure washer to clean it.
(That white grout you see at the top of the picture was protected under the door mat for years.)
You can imagine my skepticism that a little plastic bottle could do the same job as a pressure washer. But, I was shocked at what happened next.
Here’s the down and dirty, true tale, of how I cleaned our home from top to bottom without a pressure washer or ladder:

Krud Kutter Exterior Clean Up Materials:
- Krud Kutter Original
- Hose
- Broom
- Scrub brush
- Optional: Rubber gloves
Directions for Cleaning Exterior Grout and Tile on a Front Stoop:
First sweep off any loose dirt and leaves.
Spray Krud Kutter over the surface to be cleaned. (You can dilute it, but I figured the grime was tough competition for that little white and red bottle, so I didn’t dilute.)
Let the cleaner sit for a few minute. While you wait, you can get spray happy and maybe clean some outdoor furniture too.
Check back with your stoop. Whoa!!! Can you see that? The grime is pulling out of the grout in little brown puddles!
Quick grab your scrub brush and start scrubbing the grime off the surface. You’ll find that there’s not much “elbow grease” involved because the Krud Kutter has done most of the work for you.
Step back and admire your work halfway through. Can you see how clean the right hand side is?!
Keep scrubbing until you finish the whole front porch. Then wipe off your outdoor furniture with one swipe.
The Krud Kutter works great on the railings too. And because it is non-toxic and biodegradable I didn’t have to worry about it harming that hungry vine that must be fed by Seymour (please tell me you’re old enough to remember that movie.)
Finish by rinsing off the porch and furniture with the hose.
Are you ready for the results?
Here’s the side-by-side before and after comparison:
Yeah baby! At this point, I was so thrilled that I decided to try the Krud Kutter House Wash to get rid of the dirt, pollen and slug trails:
How to Clean Your Home without Ladders and a Pressure Washer:
Remember that pressure washer I mentioned earlier? I also wanted to buy one so I didn’t have to pay to have our home exterior professionally cleaned. I decided long ago that if I’m going to be around for my kids I need to stop the wet ladder antics. And you can too! Put down your phone, don’t call the Home Pressure Washer Professionals. Instead, grab these supplies and wash your home from the safety of the ground!
Krud Kutter Exterior Clean Up Materials:
- Krud Kutter House Wash
- Broom
- Sponge
- Water hose
- Eye Goggles (to protect eyes from spray)
- Rubber Gloves (optional)
Instructions:
The instructions on the bottle say to spray your home, gutters, and the surrounding plants with water from the garden hose before you begin. You can do this before or after you connect the bottle of Krud Kutter House Wash to your hose. Make sure the bottle nozzle is set to “OFF” when attaching the hose.
Once the house is saturated, switch the nozzle to “CLEAN” and start spraying your home with the Krud Kutter House Cleaner from top to bottom.
Let the cleanser sit for 5-10 minutes. Set the bottle nozzle to “RINSE” and rinse off the cleanser.
The majority of the house was clean, but there were a few stubborn spots that required a little more scrubbing. I used a sponge to clean some mildew spots on the trim.
And the broom to scrub some of the petrified leaf debris from the gutters.
But, the siding looked much cleaner without scrubbing.
And the whole house had a much more inviting and clean look. Now we won’t be scaring the trick or treaters off before they get to the front door.
Here’s the side-by-side review:
Tile and grout:
You better believe I’m making room in my garage for these two!
You can buy your own at Lowe’s or your local hardware store. And those smart folks at Krud Kutter have a cleaning product for almost everything! Automotive, rust, driveways and MORE!
And the pressure washer? I’ll be saving that money (and floor space) for something else. 😉

Krud Kutter is a company that I was happy to partner with because their products lived up to my expectations (or exceeded them.) Rest assured that I will not partner with brands that I don’t value or respect.
Is there anything in Krud Kutter house cleaner that would damage my car? Would like to use on front grille & bumper for stubborn bug stuff.
I’m not sure, but they do have an automobile cleaner product: http://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/krud-kutter/automotive-cleaners-and-removers/automotive-cleaner-degreaser
Nice Post i like your post very much.I have a doudt how to use and alos price.
Where did you get that hose connector that you used on the bottle? I can’t seem to find something like that anywhere…did you make it yourself?
Lloyd, the Krud Kutter house wash bottle is sold with the connector attached.
Thanks, Do you know if it will reach the top of a two story house? I cant seem to find anything that will spray that high…any suggestions?
Our’s did, but it will really depend on the water pressure your house has.
Good to know. I have been dreading the cleaning of our stucco. I chose it because of the low maintenance but, as I remind the hubby, low doesn’t mean no maintenance. I do have a question about the picture of the gutters, though. It appears that the security light was installed in a rather large hole that now is open. Is it screened to keep out squirrels or is it not into the overhead area? I wonder because a builder tried to tell me that all security lights are installed like that. I had nothing to refer to that said he was wrong so I left it and went back with a can of expanding foam to fill in when he finished. I’m a little jumpy about rodents because I know they can go through a lot of wood in a short time. They also can get through the teeniest spaces that look like nothing but a bug could get in (don’t even mention the potato beetle infestation that came in my bedroom through a “weather-proof” door…) I just wanted to know if that guy was blowing sunshine.
Thanks,
Shari
Shari, I actually had to go outside to look at our security light because that photo is deceiving. The gray is actually the junction box mounted to the outside underside of the soffit. What looks like a hole/rip is paint that was haphazardly painted around (and onto) the junction box. There should be no hole in your soffit or in the space between the light fixture and the junction box. In fact, that would be a fire hazard if birds could get in there and build a nest around the wiring. Good for you for listening to your instinct. You are right, and the installer is wrong.
Thanks for the info on Krud Kutter. Never heard of it until now but I have lots of crud! Just a quick suggestion, Vinyl Renu is another really great product that restores and protects siding. You might want to check it out and see if you could blog about it. Pretty sure they have a product for shutters too.
Finally found the Krud Kutter with the nozzle for the hose and used it this afternoon. This stuff was great. No excuses now not to do the paint touch ups now that the siding is clean. I have not cleaned the siding in, well, like forever. Can’t wait to wash the concrete patio next.
Your house looks great, this stuff really works! Did you use it on your windows? Here in the Pacific Northwest, the rain “stains” the windows and having a two story house, I find it difficult to keep them clean.
Sandy, I didn’t but Krud Kutter sells a formula for windows too! Look here: http://www.krudkutter.com/index.php?option=com_products&task=product&pid=11&Itemid=63
It seems to be a perfect solution for an easy way of cleaning the whole house. Cleaning the house is always a tiring job. But I only wonder is this cleaner safe? Because I suppose that it contains quite a lot of different chemicals.
WOW Brittany! This is amazingly sparking clean! LOVE the before and after difference! Great work! THIS IS A MUST HAVE!
Going back to the tiles…. would you know where you find tiles that are that thin? Also, they don’t look like they are set in grout, but rather just lying on the concrete (no doubt done when the concrete was still wet). Any help there?
Wow – I am always slkeptical of products – but Krud Kutter seems to have delivered! I wonder id it works just as well on a grmy tile floor..
Thanks for sharing this info
